Government Relations CommitteeOne of the most important functions of the Surety Association of Ohio is to proactively monitor and be an advocate on behalf of the surety industry statewide as it relates to our state legislature. The Government Relations Committee’s objective is to quickly disseminate pertinent construction and legislative issues or bills to our membership and the general public alike that may detrimentally effect the financial well being of our community. Our ultimate goal is to be a positive agent of change as it relates to local or state issues pertaining to surety such as onerous bond forms or contract specifications, long-term warranties, forfeiture clauses, or the removal of valuable surety products from legislation. To best achieve this goal and to have the most impact we all must be involved in the process. It is our hope that through the grassroots coordination and communication of our committee our members will quickly react to issues be it through a letter writing campaign, picking-up the phone or other methods that articulate why a given measure may have an adverse effect on our industry or community. If you know of a legislative issue that needs our attention, please contact us at info@ohiosurety.com or contact the chairman of the Government Relations Committee. There is strength in numbers so get involved!
