2nd Quarter Meeting Minutes
December 9, 2003

• Mark Drengler, President, opened the dinner meeting at 6:35PM with approximately 70 members in attendance at the Hilton Columbus at Easton Town Center.

• Mark gave a web site update and encouraged members to use the site for updates.

• This was our 2nd full year as a combined association since merging the three LSA’s in Ohio. Mark Drengler announced the accomplishments of the Association throughout the year including first full year of the web site, various legislative issues fought, numerous speaking engagements completed to promote and educate various industry partners on surety products, trade show participation, and various articles written. Mark encouraged and asked members to get involved with the Association and continue to get involved with speaking engagements to promote surety.

• Mark then introduced the guest speakers, James Manuel and Natalie Burley, from the Ohio Dept. of Development. They were promoting and looking for participation from surety companies to help with the State’s new minority contractor program called EDGE (Encouraging Diversity, Growth, & Equity). EDGE is an assistance program for economically and socially disadvantaged business enterprise. EDGE is a bond guarantee program that will guarantee 90% of the losses for participants that qualify in the program.

• The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:05PM. The next meeting will be held in Cleveland, OH in March ’04. The date and time will be announced at a later date.
